"The Doors" to death !

Jim Morrison was the lead singer and lyricist of The Doors and is widely considered to be one of the most charismatic frontmen in rock music history. He was also the author of several books of poetry and the director of a documentary and short film. Although Morrison was known for his baritone vocals, many fans, scholars, and journalists have discussed his theatrical stage persona, his self-destructiveness, and his work as a poet. He was ranked number 47 on Rolling Stone's "100 Greatest Singers of All Time".

Morrison was thought to have  died from natural causes. For more than three decades it has remained one of rock music's most tantalising mysteries. Why did Jim Morrison suddenly collapse and die in his Paris apartment, aged only 27? The official death certificate states he died in the bath of "natural causes". According to Sam Bernett, Morrison died of a massive heroin overdose in the toilet of a nightclub he was managing, the Rock 'n' Roll Circus on the French capital's fabled Left Bank. Bernett, 62, a French-born former New York Times journalist, claims the death was then covered up by two drug dealers who transferred Morrison's body from the club to the singer's apartment and dumped it in the bath. Bernett was then warned by the club's owners never to tell anybody about what he had seen. The allegations are being taken so seriously that they are being examined by the French authorities and may lead to the investigation into Morrison's death being reopened.

Room full of mirrors

Jimi Hendrix is an icon in the hard rock music vein. To this day almost 40 years after his death, he is seen as one of the most influential rock guitarists in rock history. His showmanship as well as his technical prowess remains unmatched, and despite a mere five albums, his music is a staple in the world of rock and roll.
Hendrix died on September 18, 1970 - slightly a year following his legendary performance at theWoodstock music festival, and the circumstances surrounding his death are still speculated upon. After a couple of days missing, Hendrix was found dead at the flat of his girlfriend Monika Dannemann. The autopsy revealed large quantities of red wine in his stomach along with his lungs. The official cause of death was recorded as inhalation of vomit and barbiturate intoxication. The recorded facts paint a vague portrait of Hendrix's death, and the events surrounding the incident leave a lot of questions unanswered. Did Jimi Hendrix simply fall victim to the excessive lifestyle in which many other musicians have met their doom, or is there more to his death than meets the eye?

The 'stone' which 'rolled' away

Brian Jones, was an English musician and founding member of The Rolling Stones. Jones was a multi-instrumentalist whose use of non-traditional instruments, such as the sitar and marimba, were integral to the changing sound of the Rolling Stones.Brian was a complex person, there’s no doubt he had many sides to his personality and his convoluted life-style took many different twists and turns throughout his career. Brian’s musicianship is certainly his legacy, but his contribution to the world of fashion and his experimentation with ethnic music is legend.
At around midnight on the night of 2–3 July 1969, Jones was discovered motionless at the bottom of his swimming pool at Cotchford Farm. His Swedish girlfriend, Anna Wohlin, was convinced he was alive when they took him out, insisting he still had a pulse. However, by the time the doctors arrived, it was too late, and he was pronounced dead. The coroner's report stated "Death by misadventure", and noted his liver and heart were heavily enlarged by drug and alcohol abuse.

Heavier than heaven

According to the book Heavier Than Heaven, when Cobain died, his sister claimed that as a kid he always talked about how he wanted to join the 27 Club. Kurt Cobain was found dead at his home in SeattleWashington
United States on April 8, 1994. Cobain, the lead singer of the
American grunge band Nirvana, had checked out of a drug
rehabilitation facility and been reported suicidal by his wife
Courtney Love. The Seattle Police Department incident report
states that Cobain was found with a shotgun across his body,
had a visible head wound and there was a suicide note
discovered nearby. Despite the official ruling, several theories
have arisen offering alternate explanations for Cobain's death.
Tom Grant, a private investigator hired by Cobain's wife
Courtney Love to find Cobain after his departure from rehab,
put forth his belief that Cobain was murdered. Grant's theory
has since been analyzed and questioned by television shows,
films, and books. Authors and the filmmakers have also
attempted to explain what might have happened during
Cobain's final days, and what might have led him to suicide.

Better to burn out rather than fade away

Believe it or not, in the world of Rock n Roll, age matters. I am but of course talking about the mythical private members of "The 27 club" - the collective grouping of musicians who died at the age of 27. The Club was created in 1969 when a number of renowned musicians died within years of each other, each shrouded in mystery. There’s no dress code, guest list or kicking out time and its doors are always open, provided you’re old enough to get in! Coincidence, conspiracy, speculation, mystery, tragedy and fate; its all of them tangled into one.The impetus for the club's creation were the deaths of a seemingly unusual number of prominent 27-year-old musicians within a two-year period of time, exactly: Brian Jones, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin and Jim Morrison. Morrison and Jones died on the same date two years apart.
